19th Century: The Rise of Philippine Nationalism

I agree to most writers who are saying that the rise of Filipino Nationalism began in the 19th Century for in this century specifically in the year 1872 the three Fathers Mariano Gomez, Jose Burgos and Jacinto Zamora showed their Martyrdom. It is because of their martyrdom that the Filipinos created a strong fervor to put a stop to oppression and liberate the country from the Spaniards.

1. Reflect - It is really difficult for people, specifically for teens, to make a decision right away when something so upsetting happened to them. In the book, Judd, Vicki, Lionel, and Ryan were being left behind after the Rapture. I felt their loneliness having to stay on earth in the following 7 years of tribulation without their families. Jose Rizal, the National Hero

Jose Rizal is unquestionably a great hero and the greatest among the Filipinos.

Whether or not the Americans supported Rizal to be selected as the Philippine National Hero, he himself was already acclaimed as the most significant leader of his people before his dramatic death in Luneta on December 30, 1896 . He have already possessed in himself the greatness and courage a hero must have. 

Jose Rizal: not an American-made hero

Although Governor Taft suggested the Philippine Commission to choose a national hero, it was not he who appointed RIZAL to be the one.
